The Outreach Committee organizes and coordinates parish projects to benefit the
disadvantaged members of our society in practical ways. Different projects are targeted at different groups -- the homeless, day laborers, orphans in Mexico, etc.
St. Tim's Giving Groves ministry feeds the hungry all year long by saving fresh produce that would otherwise go to waste. We do this by gleaning private citrus groves around the county from spring til late fall and giving the fruit to the San Diego Food Bank for distribution throughout San Diego County. This is a fun activity where the whole family can participate.
Other examples of outreach are:
staffing and feeding a homeless shelter for five days around Christmas
collecting donations and organizing a party for an orphanage in Mexico near Thanksgiving
providing sack lunches to day laborers in Rancho Penasquitos (three times a week for two months during the winter)
collecting and distributing blankets to the homeless in January
organzing an Alternative Gift Fair for the parish in December
hosting the Women's Bean Project in January
collecting school supplies for children in a disadvantaged neighborhood in September
