CursilloCursillo is a four day weekend designed to produce spiritual growth in extroverts. Couples are encouraged to attend together and singles are allowed. All attendees must be baptized and have the approval of Fr. Crespo, our Priest in Charge. The weekend is a lively combination of fellowship, music, lectures, and discussions on Christianity. Some of the topics covered include the Christian Community in Action, Lay Ministry, and Prayer Groups. Cursillo weekends occur twice a year -- in April and October. They are held at Camp Stevens in Julian. For more information visit the San Diego Cursillo Community's website at http://www.sdcursillo.org .Women's Discipleship Groups
This is a small group ministry centerd on a Bible study and prayer for one another. Since the purpose is to provide a "safe environment" for women to come together and build community, the groups are kept small and are only open to new members at specific times. The "open periods" for new members occur frequently, though, and all women are welcome. Twice a month we meet in people's homes. We open with prayer after a short time of gathering informally. Then we go over the assigned study material -- which people have read at home prior to the meeting. Then we share prayer concerns and pray for each other. The format is informal and caring. Dr. Bill Creasy (Logos Ministries) leads two guided, ecumenical Bible studies on Tuesdays and one on Thursdays. (The Tuesday evening class is about one year ahead of the morning one, which is about three years ahead of the Thursday class.) Come see why about 1,000 people have been gathering on Tuesdays to listen to a verse-by-verse discussion of the Holy Scriptures. The Tuesday classes are held at Good Samaritan's Episcopal Church at the corner of Eastgate Mall and Genesee Avenue -- three blocks north of the UTC mall and only about eleven miles from St. Timothy's. The Thursday evening class meets at San Rafael Parish (17252 Bernardo Center Drive). Audiofiles from one of Dr. Creasey's Los Angeles classes can be played over the Internet from the Logos Ministries Website. St. Timothy's is a supporting congregation for this Bible Study. RetreatsWeekend retreats are held several times a year to encourage parishioners to rest, relax and continue on their spiritual journeys. The styles range from peaceful stays at local monasteries with a lot of quiet and solitude to the much more socially-oriented Family Camp. A member of St. Tim's clergy leads each retreat and provides spiritual guidance and direction. Some of the retreats are for adults only while others are for the entire family and include activities specifically for children. St. Tim's Youth Group takes advantage of diocesan events, like New Beginnings and Happening, organized specifically for youth. Several EYC members, both youth and adult, have attended these weekends as candidates then worked as Staff Members at subsequent retreats.
